Honduras and non-recognition

From Lula:

“We can’t accept or recognize any government other than Zelaya’s,” Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said in his weekly radio program today. “If Honduras doesn’t reverse its position, then it’s going to be totally isolated in the middle of an enormous contingent of democracies.”

That could start having practical consequences in terms of trade, investment, participation in international organizations, etc.

Lula doesn't seem to have any problems with Cuba's dictatorship, so why does he worry about Honduras?

Unless he thinks Cuba is part of the 'enormous contingent of democracies'?

Most of Honduras trade is with the US so unless Obama imposes some embargo they don't have that much to worry about. Remittances are also a huge part of external capital flows (over 20% of GDP) something that diplomatic recognition from Brazil has no impact on.

Calderón condemned it too.

I read somewhere that Hillary ruled out any embargo or cutting off aid to Honduras. That appears to be the only response that could have an impact in the few months left before the elections.

Please guys. This person is simply an apologist for facist repression. This is clear by now.
